LARKSPUR, CA- Sep 25, 2012 - Jack McLaughlin, co-founder of My Broker Donates, today announced that Capital Public Radio is partnering with My Broker Donates to empower listeners to generate cost-free donations when they buy or sell a home. Capital Public Radio is an award-winning Sacramento, CA-based public radio station broadcasting news, classical music and jazz to 420,000 listeners weekly. My Broker Donates is a social enterprise that provides home buyers and sellers with a free service to help them find a Realtor and channels broker referral fees into donations for non-profit organizations.
Capital Public Radio is airing four rotating sponsorship spots to garner attention for the new fundraising service. It also has included My Broker Donates in e-mails to supporters, and on its Website. The radio spots air on all of Capital Public Radio's seven listener-supported, non-commercial frequencies.
"Capital Public Radio is always looking for ways to serve its listeners and to find new funding sources that support our award-winning programming. Our partnership with My Broker Donates does both. I encourage our listeners to contact My Broker Donates: They'll get connected with real estate agents whose experience perfectly matches their needs. And Capital Public Radio will get a big donation at zero cost to our supporters," stated Arla Gibson, Capital Public Radio Director of Development.
"We're delighted to be partnering with Capital Public Radio to increase awareness of My Broker Donates among their donor base and listeners. My Broker Donates provides a win-win-win approach to supporting non-profits and building communities. Home buyers/sellers have a free service that helps them find the Realtor that's just right for their needs -- and make a large donation to the non-profit of their choice at no cost to them. Non-profits have a new way to drive donations that provides donors with a valuable and timely service -- especially during these economically-challenged times. And, finally, reputable agents with a solid track record and demonstrated community involvement gain qualified leads for the cost of a standard referral fee," stated Mr. McLaughlin.
My Broker Donates connects home buyers and sellers with up to three real estate agents matched to their particular transaction through an objective, data-driven process. Buyers and sellers choose the agent they like best. Employing the right agent means a better outcome for clients. Those selling a house are provided with the best opportunity for getting the highest possible price. Those buying a house are better assured of locating the ideal property. When their transaction closes, My Broker Donates uses the broker referral fee to make a sizable donation to the non-profit organization selected by the home buyer/seller -- at zero cost to the home buyer/seller or the charity. On a home sale of $500,000, the resulting contribution is more than $2,000. (Go to MBD's Donate-O-Meter to compute a donation.)
My Broker Donates was developed in 2011 by Jack McLaughlin, Tom Eddington, and Greg Baumann. Mr. McLaughlin, a licensed California real estate broker with 32 years of experience, developed the concept for My Broker Donates after successfully negotiating real estate transactions for non-profit clients. The results of his efforts include a $150,000 donation to the Marin Workforce Housing Trust and a $25,000+ donation to EAH Housing of California and Hawaii. During the past year, My Broker Donates has partnered with approximately 75 non-profits across the country, and completed nearly a dozen transactions that have benefited non-profits including the Sierra Club, Amnesty International, Summer Search, Whistlestop, and the Black Coalition on AIDS.
