SAN DIEGO, CA, September 13, 2013 -- In 2011, Tennessee became one of the first states to deploy a statewide NG9-1-1 network. In its active progression to ensure that emergency communications districts are prepared for the transition to NG9-1-1 and a digital infrastructure, the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board (TECB) requires extensive testing of a district's 9-1-1 system before providing reimbursement to the district. TriTech’s Inform 911 system at the Sumner County Emergency Communications District successfully connected to Tennessee's emergency services IP network (ESInet) and completed all required tests. As such, the TECB considers the TriTech Inform 911 controller approved for reimbursement.
-The Tennessee Emergency Communications Board (TECB) was created for the purpose of assisting emergency communications district ("ECD") boards of directors in the area of management, operations, and accountability, and establishing emergency communications for all citizens of the state. The TECB has led the state of Tennessee to be one of the nation’s first statewide, Internet Protocol (IP)-enabled 9-1-1 networks aimed to improve 9-1-1 call delivery, enhance interoperability, and increase the ease of communication between ECDs statewide.
-Sumner County Emergency Services District services eight Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), six police departments, 16 fire departments, the Sheriff's Office, and the Emergency Medical Service (EMS). Sumner County is one of TriTech’s many clients in the state of Tennessee, including Sullivan County, Bradley County, Dickson County, City of Chattanooga, City of Murfreesboro, City of Memphis, and over 50 other Public Safety agencies in Tennessee.
-As an IP-based solution, TriTech's Inform 911 solution provides the ability to receive and manage traditional wire line and wireless calls, as well as accept and interact with voice, text, and multimedia communications. As part of TriTech’s Inform public safety suite, implementation of Inform 911 is the beginning step towards a unified call management solution. TriTech provides a next generation PSAP solution combining the functions of 9-1-1 with CAD for a more efficient call-taking workflow.
Tonya Jetton, Assistant Director of Sumner County Emergency Communications District
"We are very excited to be participating in the NetTN project. We have seven PSAPs working off of a centralized controller, so our system is quite a bit different from the other systems that have gone through the testing. The process of working with the TECB resources and our vendor was great."
Scott MacDonald, Senior Director of Product Management of TriTech Software Systems
"TriTech commends the TECB for their vision and commitment to Next Generation 9-1-1 while ensuring the technology deployed by PSAPs in the state is tested for next generation readiness. We are excited that the testing with Inform 911 was so successful and that our customers in the state of Tennessee can take these important steps towards the future."
