SANTA ROSA, CA - January 27, 2014 - Collaborize Classroom(R) today announced that it has published the world's first ebook that allows educators to deploy collaborative lessons to their students directly from their Collaborize "Teachers' Guide" ebook, simply by touching or clicking on an image of the lesson in the book. All of the lessons in the ebook are collaborative and discussion-based. These address the new Common Core State Standards that are being implemented across the country this year, right down to the individual Common Core sections.
The interactive ebook represents the first in a planned series of Collaborize Teacher's Guide e-books that provide educators with a smart way to preview and launch topic-based discussions. Topic based discussions encourage students to talk and dialogue with each other around specific, individual topics, at various grade levels, while aligning with Common Core requirements.
This first ebook was co-written by award-winning high school English teacher and author Catlin Tucker. Catlin has also authored many of the topic-based lessons in the global Collaborize Classroom Topic Library, which currently houses upwards of 6,200 individual collaborative lessons and is available free to educators worldwide (www.library.CollaborizeClassroom.com). The ebook contains 30 "Click-To-Deploy" collaborative lessons around five commonly taught English Literature titles.
According to Tucker, when a teacher selects a collaborative lesson via the Teacher's Guide, it will either instantly appear in that teacher's private Collaborize Classroom site or is made available as a stand-alone lesson. These stand-alone lessons have their own unique URLs, which can then be integrated seamlessly into almost any digital environment, LMS, blog, or assignments page. All a student needs is Internet access and a browser. The lessons can also be accessed by students on almost any mobile device.
According to Richard Lang, President of Collaborize Classroom, "Rather than relying strictly on rote memorization and feeding back the 'right' answers, the topic-based discussions in this new ebook promote frequent peer interaction that helps students reflect and generate the 'why' behind the answers."
"We've made it possible for teachers everywhere to gain access to curated, Common Core-ready lessons and actually deploy them directly to their students right from our Teacher's Guide ebook," said Lang. "This unique, patented capability will save teachers both time and money."
Collaborize Classroom plans to work with other educators to publish additional interactive Teachers Guide ebooks in 2014, both independently and in conjunction with licensed education publishers. This first ebook is available for download now at Amazon.com (http://amzn.to/LUBsWU), and Teachers-Pay-Teachers (http://bit.ly/1jA5J8r).
